Royal Air Maroc to continue strong growth in 2019
The National Carrier of Morocco, Royal Air Maroc is experiencing strong fleet growth with recent deliveries of B787 and B737MAX, and additional aircraft on order.
In December 2018, Royal Air Maroc received the first of four Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft and will receive the remaining three over the coming months. The airline intends to deploy B737 MAX aircraft on services from Casablanca to Accra, Bologna, Lagos, London Heathrow, Paris CDG and Paris Orly.
The airline also received its first B787-9 in the same month. To celebrate its inaugural 787-9, Royal Air Maroc unveiled a special livery that honors contemporary Moroccan culture.
The new B737 MAX and B787 Dreamliners expand the carriers’ medium-haul portfolio, which forms the backbone of Royal Air Maroc's fleet and supports their continuous expansion and modernisation.
To further support the airline’s strong growth, in 2018 Royal Air Maroc was the first African airline to join the Oneworld alliance, with full membership expected in 2020. Royal Air Maroc will become Oneworld's first full member from Africa and its first recruit globally for six years.
Royal Air Maroc carried 7.3 million passengers in 2018, on a fleet of 55 aircraft, with a network that currently connects its Casablanca base with 94 destinations in 49 countries across Africa, Europe, the Middle East and North and South America. Included in its route network are Oneworld hubs Doha, London Heathrow, Madrid, Moscow Domodedovo, New York JFK and Sao Paulo.
