OVERALL PURPOSE The Charter Manager is responsible for developing the Charter Market and managing delivery of products/services as required. The position is also responsible for acquiring new charter contracts from the corporate industries especially in the resource sectors.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
- External – Maintain external relations and strong communication lines with stakeholders/contractors, e.g. New Mont Ltd, St Barbara Ltd etc,
- Internal – Comprises of the Commercial team; Customer Service, Training, Sales, Marketing and Revenue Management teams; Operations, IT and Finance teams to ensure communication of customer needs and follow up actions are taken up promptly.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
- Maintain and oversee existing contracts, ensuring all obligations are met.
- Ensure compliance with aviation regulations, service level agreements (SLAs), and safety standards.
- Conduct contract reviews and risk assessments, identifying safety and operational risks.
- Manage and participate in contractor audits to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
- Provide detailed contract performance reports to the CEO and senior management.
- Assess contract profitability, risks, and operational efficiency for continuous improvement.
- Ensure contract renewals, amendments, and modifications are aligned with company objectives.
- Conduct research on PNG’s charter aviation market, identifying trends and opportunities.
- Provide insights to senior leadership on potential new markets, competitors, and pricing strategies.
- Analyze market conditions to develop new charter offerings and business strategies.
- Optimize opportunities for regular and hoc charter services
- Most importantly targets are met.
- Identify and pursue new contracts and partnership opportunities to grow the charter business.
- Develop customized charter solutions for corporate and government clients.
- Negotiate and secure new business agreements with organizations needing charter services.
- Oversee the service delivery process for all charter clients, ensuring operations meet contractual obligations.
- Ensure smooth execution of charter flight schedules, ground handling, and logistics.
- Address and resolve service-related issues to maintain client satisfaction and contract integrity.
- Work with flight operations, ground services, and maintenance teams to ensure service reliability.
- Ensure compliance with aviation safety, operational efficiency, and performance metrics.
- Monitor aircraft availability and scheduling to meet contractual obligations.
- Develop and maintain regular charter performance reports, tracking key operational indicators.
- Implement measures to improve on-time performance, reduce cancellations, and enhance efficiency.
- Provide feedback to operations and management teams on service improvements and optimizations.

- Strong background in developing and managing business contracts
- Experience in planning and conceptualizing market/contract acquisition strategies.

- Maintain records of contracts’ expiry dates
- Initiate timely renewals of contracts once agreed and signed
- Maintain schedule of meetings with stakeholders
- Submit various reports as required
- Maintain budget levels QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE
- Tertiary qualities preferably in Business related discipline
- Experience in the Aviation industry treated favorably
- PNG /emerging market economies experience is an advantage
- Experience in managing contracts
- 5 – 10 years of industry experience
