About the Bombardier Dash 8

Bombardier Aerospace’s Dash 8 family of turboprop regional aircraft includes the 37 passenger Q100 and Q200, the 50 to 60 passenger Q300 and the 70 to 90 passenger stretched Q400. The Q400 is the newest member of the Dash 8 family, which had its first flight in 1998 and entered commercial service in February 2000. In more than 40 countries around the world, over 550 Q400 turboprops are in service with more than 60 operators. They have accumulated more than 10 million flight hours, and have a dispatch reliability of 99.5% - one of the highest levels in the air transport industry.

The Dash 8 Q400 aircraft was developed to meet the requirements of regional airlines for larger aircraft on high-density, short-haul routes. The 350kt Q400 is one of the world’s quietest turboprop aircraft, with a noise and vibration suppression system (NVS) that was introduced on the Dash 8 turboprop family in 1996. The aircraft’s speed and 2,519km range provide airlines with the capability to service markets beyond conventional turboprop aircraft distances.

A test aircraft of the Q400 became the first Canadian aircraft to fly on D7566 biofuel. D7566 is certified by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). Porter Airlines is planning to carry out Canada’s first biofuel-powered revenue flight on its Q400 aircraft. The dual control flight deck manufactured by De Havilland Canada accommodates a pilot and co-pilot. The electronic flight instrumentation system (EFIS) has five high-resolution, 6in x 8in, liquid crystal displays. The flight deck can be fitted with a holographic guidance system from Flight Dynamics.

Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor

Our client is a leading domestic operator providing both passenger and charter solutions in Papua New Guinea. They are currently looking for an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor who will oversee MRO compliance in areas of the company's KPI and to supervise all maintenance tasks involving aircraft maintenance for our client's fleet. This is a position is a full-time position with accommodation, flights, and transport, provided at base. Job Responsibilities Ensuring all task specified in the Work Pack which have been carried out. Ensuring all paperwork is filled out correctly and certified correctly in accordance with the MOE. Performing on-the-job technical training on aircraft maintenance practices, company policies and safety procedures with new employees as required. Ensuring that all documentation and certifications are completed and correctly certified. Ensuring all serial number of components off and on have been recorded and GRNs have been recorded for all parts and materials used. Ensuring any TSN, TSO and TTIS have been determined and recorded on all entries. Job Requirements Working knowledge of appropriate processes, procedures and standards in the MOE Ability to advise senior management team on engineering matters and driving required changes At least 10 years’ experience in the aircraft maintenance industry. B2 LAME (Dash 8)

Our client is a leading domestic operator providing both passenger and charter solutions in Papua New Guinea. They are currently looking for B2 LAMEs (Dash 8) who will take on the responsibility of maintaining the aircraft in accordance with both regulatory and organizational requirements. This is a position on an equal touring rotation (3 weeks or 6 weeks) with accommodation, flights, transport, meals, provided at base. Further type ratings will be offered to successful candidates with the right aptitude and calibre too. Job Responsibilities Conduct maintenance of the organization's fleet of Dash 8 aircraft to ensure their airworthiness and compliance to all requirements. Handle and rectify all airframe/engine-related maintenance for both scheduled and unscheduled checks. Performs and certifies aircraft maintenance activities in accordance with the appropriate manuals, policies and procedures. Carry out maintenance work on other fleet types from time to time as well. Work effectively in a team to ensure operational requirements are met while also ensuring zero compromise to quality and safety parameters. Job Requirements At least 5 years of experience as a B2 Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer working on Dash 8s from a hands-on approach. Dash 8 rating is necessary. They currently operate a mixed fleet of ATR 72-600 and Dash 8-100 which are well suited to the PNG environment with both fleet's ability to operate into all the major strips in PNG with excellent uplift capability. As the airline are scheduled to phase out their Dash 8 fleet by the end of 2025, Dash 8 pilots will have the possibility to be transferred to ATR 72-600.
