Skymark is seeking expressions of interest from Captains to operate their B737-800 aircraft, based in Tokyo, Japan with a monthly commute home or non commute option. This is an exceptional opportunity for Non-Type Rated Captains as well as experienced B737NG Captains, with excellent pay and allowances, including per diems, accommodation, air tickets and worldwide medical insurance provided by Rishworth Aviation.

Commencing operations in 1998, Skymark was the first LCC established in Japan and is based in Haneda, the airport closest to the centre of Tokyo. The airline operates scheduled passenger services throughout Japan with a fleet of B737-800 aircraft, and international charter flights. Skymark has shown strong performance in recent years, and is seeking experienced Boeing and Airbus pilots with excellent benefits on offer.

Non Type Rated Minimum Requirements:

  • Total Time: 5000+ hours,

  • PIC time: 1500+ hours (majority from the below aircraft types),

  • Aircraft Types: B737EFIS, B767, B744, B777, B787, A320 & A330

  • ICAO ATP Licence with relevant and valid Jet Type Rating & Class 1 Medical Certificate,

  • Flight Radiotelephony Operator's Licence,

  • ICAO English Proficiency Level 4 or above,

  • Last flight within 12 months (on relevant jet aircraft) at time of application

  • Under 50 years of age at time of application

Type Rated Minimum Requirements: 

  • B737NG type rated

  • Total time: 5,000 + hours

  • Commercial Jet PIC time: 1500 + hours

  • PIC time on B737NG: 1000 + hours

  • ICAO ATP Licence with B737NG Type Rating & Class 1 Medical Certificate,

  • ICAO English Proficiency Level 4 or above & Flight Radiotelephony Operator's Licence

  • Last flight within 12 months (on relevant jet aircraft) at time of application

  • Under 55 years at time of application

Living and working in Japan

Pilots flying with Skymark can live in Japan on a non commute or commute home each month and still have the opportunity to explore Tokyo and the surrounding areas. The capital city of Japan is a fast paced city with a fascinating contrast between traditional Japanese culture and futuristic technology. Tokyo offers a seemingly unlimited choice of shopping, entertainment, culture and dining to its visitors and locals alike. The city's history can be appreciated in districts such as Asakusa and in many excellent museums, historic temples and gardens. Tokyo also offers a number of attractive green spaces in the city.

I have been flying in Japan since 2008 and have been with Rishworth Aviation since I joined Skymark Airlines as a B737NG Captain. Before moving to Japan, I was based in the Dominican Republic for 19 years working for a large American company flying corporate jets and helicopters. I live in Tokyo with my wife and my 2 youngest children, who attend the local Japanese school close to our home. My wife is now taking Japanese class and starting a business in the import-export area. In our spare time, we enjoy going on camping trips around Japan.
