Our client is a renowned Engine MRO in Malaysia with a production line specializing on the maintenance and overhaul of engine parts. 

They are currently looking for a Section Manager - Product Engineering, whom will be directly responsible to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day management of a team of engineers.

This position will be based in Malaysia, and relocation will be required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deputise Engineering Manager across any functions as required including the Shop Floor Management (SFM) meetings, Management Meetings, Customer Review, OEM discussion, Request for Quotation (RFQ) review, etc
  • Lead a team of engineers under his/ her section. This typically includes training to ensure that personnel are updated with latest methods, procedures and requirements; work allocation and problem resolution, as well as participating in decisions for recruitment and performance evaluation
  • Ensure that all engineering guidelines and procedures for all individual repairs released at ASSB are implemented and sustained
  • Review all engineering documentations released for proper technical content, standardization of engineering documents in the engineering department is adhered to and ensures that engineering documents are according to approved engineering data
  • Responsible for the implementation of new repair scope into the organization.
  • Research and analyze performance metrics of product groups
  • Provide local support and resource to projects
  • Establishes procedures for high standards of quality, reliability, and safety in product instructions
  • Identify and implement continuous product improvements in terms of cost and Turn Around Time (TAT)
  • Responsible for reject rates for all product groups and provide enhancements that will yield a lower rate at ASSB
  • Identify opportunities that will bring down the reject rates for all product groups
  • Develop a professional working relationship with the shareholders and be able to share the knowledge and lesson learned
  • Constant and active discussion with the shareholders to understand the process developments and increase technical knowledge
  • Develop a succession plan and define goals for the team
  • Develop and periodic update of training materials related to engineering processes used in the production floor
  • Knowledge transfer and/or train the production or technical employees on the technical processes used in the production floor based on the approved training syllabus or materials
  • Comply and support Environmental Health & Safety policies, rules and regulations at all times
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the superior or any other person designated

Job Requirements
  • Minimum Degree in Aerospace or Material Science or Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or its equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years of working experience in Maintenance Repair and Overhaul within an aviation environment is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a leadership role
  • Dynamic and tactful personality, high degree of professionalism and integrity, with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership qualities, result oriented, good follow through and possess good organization skills
  • Interpret technical documents, Engine Manuals, Standard Practice Manual, perform analysis and provide recommendations
  • Good knowledge and experienced in one or more of the following special processes: TIG Welding, Plasma Spray, Heat Treatment, Machining, Shot Peening, Welding Technology, Diffusion bonding/coating, Non-Destructive Test: RT (Digital Radiography) or Penetrant Testing (PT) or Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Self-driven, highly motivated, strong analytical thinking skill
  • Able to work independently and prioritize workload to meet project timeliness in a fast-paced environment
  • Good knowledge of continuous improvement, quality management and lean principles
  • Possess commercial awareness and basic financial management skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written in English and Bahasa Melayu
  • Proficient in computer skills especially with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
